SEPTEMBER: LIV'S ANNIVERSARY AND CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS MONTH
September is a big month. I’m beginning my sophomore year of college, progressing toward my goal of raising $1M for childhood cancer and St. Jude, celebrating my 20th birthday, and marking the first anniversary of Liv Weatherford’s passing.
A year ago, the world lost an extraordinary light—an embodiment of pure love, joy, and spirit—when Liv Weatherford lost her multi-year battle with neuroblastoma. I was fortunate to have crossed paths with Liv. A few years back, my Juggling for Jude soccer balls and juggling efforts caught her father’s attention on Instagram, and from there, we developed a cross-country friendship.
What inspires me now is the impact of Liv’s life and legacy. The Weatherfords launched the Liv in the Journey Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to combating neuroblastoma through research, and supporting families and children facing cancer. I’m genuinely in awe of the dedication behind his initiative, even in Liv’s family’s darkest hours. I encourage you to learn more about their incredible work by visiting: Liv in the Journey Foundation.
After a year of reflection and grief, I’ve channeled Liv’s love of life into my every day experience. The best thing I can do is try to live they way she’d be living if she could, in honor of her legacy. This means continuing my mission and fight for St. Jude. This means juggling, speaking, and fighting every day for lifesaving cures and treatment.
Tomorrow, I’ll turn 20. Today, Liv would be turning 10.5. I’m committed to a lifetime of fighting for kids like Liv. I hope you’ll join me.
Thank you for your support!
